Man and machine.

For the first time, human-machine interaction (HMI) will be put into practice in the production of the Golf at the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg, Germany. To allow for more ergonomic work processes, these robots will aid employees in tasks such as the fitting of individual powertrain components during engine production of the Golf. Unlike previous practices, humans and robots will not be separated by a fence. Thanks to force sensors on the robots, the motion of the robot is frozen the moment it detects any contact or force.
